This is a special program held on Awaji Island, Japan, for participants of the Global Wellness Institute following the Global Wellness Summit (Bangkok).
 
Wellness leaders from around the world will gather to share the latest knowledge and practical examples under the theme of “Longevity x Science,” and participants will also have the opportunity to experience wellness unique to Japan.

What is Awaji Wellbeing Week?

Awaji Wellbeing Week is an international wellbeing event organized by the Pasona Group on Awaji Island to showcase its efforts toward realizing a society where people live healthy and fulfilling lives.
 
The Pasona Group is working on regional revitalization on Awaji Island with the aim of creating a society where everyone can live a healthy and vibrant life.
 
They are proposing a new lifestyle that integrates healthcare, food, agriculture, education, tourism, culture, and art, while promoting sustainable community development that coexists with the local area.
 
This event, themed “Mind, Body, and Bonds,” brings together experts, companies, and researchers from diverse fields such as longevity, preventive medicine, regenerative medicine, integrative medicine, wellness tourism, food, the natural environment, and regional revitalization to consider the future of wellbeing.
 
Within the rich natural environment of Awaji Island, the event aims to foster new business and research collaborations, and co-creation toward a future well-being society, through learning, experiencing, and connecting with leaders from around the world.

Leading expert in cardiovascular surgery and regenerative medicine (first in the world to commercialize myocardial regenerative medicine; pushed for heart sheets to be covered by insurance; first successful in-human myocardial regeneration therapy using iPS cells.)

Katherine Johnston
Senior Research Fellow, GWI

Katherine Johnston has extensive experience conducting economic and industry competitiveness studies worldwide, including 17 years as a Senior Economist with SRI International. Since 2008, she has partnered with the Global Wellness Institute to pioneer groundbreaking research on the global wellness industry, focusing on defining and measuring opportunities within the wellness economy and conducting deep-dive analyses into key wellness sectors. She holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University.
